Highmount Megawinch 12000

Anyone know much about these?
I am about to look at a highmount 12000 that needs a good rebuild. Its not going at the moment but last worked about 2 years ago. The guy who owns it hasnt used it in two years. I am looking at potentially breathing life into this old winch.
What are these winches capabilities and servicability. Are parts available if needed? I can get a good deal on it and am prepared to spend the money to spruce it up and get it looking and working like new. But is the performance of these units slow and power hungry or do they run efficiently and fast. From what I understand the commomn consensus is they are not the quickest nor the slowest by any stretch of the imagination, but are very reliable and will never break down and will pull anything. Do they have 2 gears? There is a bit of discussion on them on the us forums but these are very old threads and there are always 2 sides telling each other to get f*#ked on those forums. I am looking at a high mount cause I am hoping to start doing light comp work here in Vic. Possibly by next year might be ready for vic winch but for now just some Navrun stuff to get myself a good Navi. ALso anyone in Melbourne that can rebuild and work on these winches?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide and taking the time to read all this dribble.
Cheers.
