continuing G13bb idle dramas

I have given up on sorting out my idle probs and taken the sierra (G13bb) to a mechanic.

As I understand it, the 'throttle body' (not sure if that's the correct description being an efi motor) is not closing enough for the engine to idle at the correct revs. Apparently all of the electronics are good, it just doesn't close enough.

(Due to shitty phone reception I wasn't able to fully understand what was being said to me)

If someone can describe it to me (using small words) and suggest how much it might cost to fix please help me.

Cheers

To be honest, get your info straight from the horses mouth. I can explain how a throttle body and the efi system etc work, but your mechanic is the one doing hte work and charging the $$. Why would you not call them back and get the proper story ??

Just to clear it up in case someone is having a similar problem in the future and actualy does a search for posts on this topic:

The problem was that the Idle Air Control was stuck open. This probably happened in the time between when the motor left the old car til it was put into the new one.

The suggested price of a new stepper motor for the IAC (which was the suspected problem) was $400 for a new one. My response was "stuff that - just stick the friggin' thing closed and I'll without one"! Low and behold the IAC was un-stuck and is now working fine. Total charge was 1.5hrs labour to find the problem.

I hope this saves anyone doing a G13bb conversion some grief in the future.
