hello all,
i want to fit some king of lift so that in a couple of months when its time for some new tyres i can get aroung 30 - 31 inch with no problems, thinking maybee a 2 inch lift? can you buy off the shelf products? or can you just make the springs over the axle at the rear then replace the shocks, then the front get longer torsian bars instead of winding them up and again get new shocks?
i dont know much about lift kits for the feroza as it seems every advert in a mag or online dont list a feroza lift just the common toyotas and nissans
Thanks

I suggest you look at the way your suspension works. Longer torsion bars WTF. The length has nothing to do with the height, and front end travel is limited by upper and lower bump stops not shocks. Springing over the rear is not a good idea, your front will never match the height, and you will have to fit a trac bar nad change a fair bit of stuff to get it right (i drive a spoa zook, and its not an easy conversion to get right, even just the rear). You should look at a 2 inch lift - using lifted rear leaves and good shocks, and winding up the front torsion bars to match. Fit good front shocks, but dont worry bout longer ones, as you will not get much more travel out of the front unless you start hacking the bump stops apart. Then look at a 2 inch Body lift, or cutting the guards. This should allow you to fit 31's. By this stage you will realise your low range sucks, and sell your car to get something that is acutally capable offroad if thats what your after.
There isnt much for roza's, actually there is next to nothing

ok,
the torsian bar thing is something i no very little of, it was suggested by someone else because they said if you just wind them up 2 inch then it will be a really rough ride so get some that are already 2 inch longer to save winding them up - like i said before i dont understand the whole torsian bar thing. and when you said about the rear leaves, can ypu just but higher ones? so even if i got a 2 inch lift longer shocks dont matter? a body lift was in thought to so maybee i'd be better off with longer shocks so that when i do a body lift i get better travel.
and one last thing is there a certain brand shock you would recommend or does it not really matter?

Not meaning to be rude, but go and research what your car suspension actually is comprised of.
http://www.toyotaoffroad.com/Articles/I ... n_bars.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsion_beam_suspension
If you lift your front end suspension, the ride will be rougher no matter what.
By 'longer' ones he means heavy duty bars, which make it even harsher.
Longer shocks on the front do not matter, because by lifting the front, you dont gain any extra travel, you just move the point at which the car sits at rest upwards.
A body lift WILL NOT increase your amount of suspension movement.
The only gain is to fit bigger tyres, by moving the body away from the diffs.
Rancho shocks are always good

after you wind up your torsion bars, you can always remove your sway bar(not legal in your state?) it'll vastly improve the ride.

This does however create a touch more body roll through corners. But yes, the ride quality overall improves.

Winding up the front bars IMO is a very average way of getting tyre clearance. The roza's got very limited front suspension travel and whilst you gain tyre clearance you loose "droop" travel -which is going to hurt off road.
I would suggest a body lift as the main solution - I have "wedge" lifted mine, 25mm at the rear and 50mm front, and coupled with VERY different suspension components means that 31's are a breeze and 33's are possible - with the bars set to give equal bump and droop travel and not rock hard.
The point about gearing is VERY valid, the roza's T Case ratio doesn't work well with bigger tyres - so a tradeoff between tyre size and ratios
is a very smart move.

ok,
so basicaly the biggest front suspension lift would be 2 inch. the i could do a body lift aswell to get more tyre clearance? is a bodylift expensive and would you have to extend all the lines and stuff. i saw an example on warfs.org but some of it was a bit hard to understand.
so therefore it's reccomended a 2 inch bigger leaf spring in the back to make sure it's even, i've decided im not to fust about smooth ride i just want a good lookin roza,
probably looking at 30 - 31 inch cooper STT or something that looks nice and aggresive - not worried bout road noise.
Thanks guys you have been a great help

For this reason, don't try this at home.
Heaps of info on body lifts... try searching a bit, and look in the Bible.
What sort of offroading are you going to do?

If your not fussed about the looks in a pretty way, just want a mean looking bush pig, get a small body lift, and attack the wheel arches Attila the Hun style with a hacksaw.
You will keep maximum articulation in the crappy IFS and the larger tyre size will give you more clearance. Then make up some strong rock sliders so that when you run out of clearance you can just give it more right boot and not worry (as much).
2" BL from a 4x4 shop would be around the $1500 mark. But it can be done much cheaper.

in answer to the "what kind of 4wdriving are you doing?"
i drive a bit on a track in the arvo's that is a mix of mud and clay with water holes when it rains, but i also do just as much beach driving on the weekends, and i dont need the lift for the beach as it flies over the soft stuff better than most but on the mud track i have bottomed out a few times.
and the reason the website i couldn't understand was because some of the words were really weird as in another language or something but most in english so it was a little hard to follow but like you guys said i wil do allot more research and find out excactly what it is.
thanks again
