I just bought a matson dual battery kit. I got it cheap through a mate. Was just wondering if anyone has one of their isolators and if they are any good, or had any probs with them. It came with a very nice length of lead for positive, and a small earth. Both are crimped and it is pretty thick wire. Comes with battery terminals and the battery lead lugs to complete the job. Cost me $120 new. ( actually $127, but $120 sounds like I got a better deal ) .
I just had a look on their website and they have a new model isolator that has " Two new 200 amp units with the ability to parallel switch the batteries for extra starting power if needed. " Should I take this kit back and go for thi s unit ?
Cheers, Turbz.

I've got a Matson one myself. Very happy with it.
I would say I have the one you've currently got, as it doesn't have the starting power option.
I guess the question is just whether you think you need this feature; I don't.

I've got a Matson and never had any troubles. I know a few other people with them and none of them have ever played up, they're a solid system.
Matson also make a battery switch that interlocks with the VSR, if you hook it up in parallel to the VSR you can easily join the two batteries by turning the switch.

Hijacking a very old thread.
Am currently looking into dual battery kits & Matson was one of them. Also looking at Redarc & Projecta kits but all vary in price. Want it to be fully automated & would be running a All rounder battery (105-110ah) as the 2nd battery. Going into a 100 series landcruiser.
From experience, what brand would people recommend? & is there anywhere you can get cheap battery trays apart from the universal ones at supercheap etc.?
