snorkel test

would blocking off the snorkel whilst engine running to check for leaks do any damage to your motor or anythin else

leave the engine running and spray all the joints etc with aerostart/start ya bastard or other flammable aerosol. if the engine revs increase at all you have a leak

If no air can get in, it will stall right away. No harm in that.
More harm if you dont check it and get a motor full of water
