Hi all,

I have a GQ patrol, wanting to replace tyres and rims.. Basically either 33x12.5R15 or 285/75R16.. Im putting Goodyear MTR's on with just plain old white sunny's or equivalent..

Can anyone give me any good reasons to choose one over the other??

Thanks heaps,

Cheers,

Paul

15s are cheaper
years ago we all wanted 15s as there were more choices for tyres but i think now 16s are catching up

16's can provide you with a lower profile, keeping a more dirrect feeling in the steering as there is less baggyness in the sidewall when aired down. Not that noticable with 15 vs 16, but you will see what i mean if you compare a set of 37 inch tyres, one 15 inch rim, one on a 17 or larger.

Check out load ratings - 16" tyres typically have a much higher load rating than a similar size 15" tyre. I equate this to being a tougher tyre.

16 can also clear the brake calipers better leading to less heat build up and less mud packing into this space. But tyre choices and costs are higher.
