Does anyone know if you can buy a battery tray for an 80series TLC to fit over the passenger side inner arch, i.e a 3rd battery.
I actually want to use it to mount my BOSS compressor on, just figured may be easier than fabricating from scratch and would be more than strong enough.
Cheers

None that I know of. I have looked around and actually ended up fitting a 3rd battery in the back of the wagon.

I used to have one there, commercially made job, but dont know who makes them...it was angle iron with a mount to the inner guard, another to the bolt that holds the fuel rwelay at the inner guard/firewall, and another down to the shock tower. would be easy to make with some angle and a drill/welder...

So it had 2 bolts on the body and 1 on the frame and it was commercially made? Some people really have no idea
I looked at an aproved engine conversion in a hilux the other day and they were running a V6 Commodore rad with the bottom mounts on the frame and the top mounts on the body. Using a plastic tanked radiator
For those wondering what im on about have a look there are rubbers between your body and frame for a reason. The body moves around a lot on them as well and with either of these set ups somethings got to give.

Thanks for the info
I think I will stick with my original plan and fabricate something up that attaches to the chassis rail and provide a stay to the shock tower. Just gotta pull my finger out!

My solution was to use an Odyssey PC925 as the 3rd battery. At 1/3 the size when mounted on side (fine with these) it's a lot easier to mount. Put mine into a 1HZ 100 Series 2 weeks ago.

Anything to get some money for their pocket...i did think this when installing....the battery would be too heavy for the inner guard without bracing...ive seen optima batteries turned sideways in a cradle b4...

The advatage of the small Odyssey is being 1/3 the size, I can fold up an aluminium tray to fit very quickly. It far smaller, doesn't need anything moved, is very cheap and light. No acid leaks means aluminium is fine.
