UHF radio problems

hey i recently got a uniden UH088 uhf radio and when the car is running the signal has stattic and isant very clear but when car is turned off signal is fine.., ive recently put a supressor on the coil but it doesnt seem to do anything to improve the signal.. is their anything i can buy to improve quality? if so what is it and where can i buy it??

first step, check your connections and where the wires are routed. make sure you have a good ground connection

If possible, identify the source of the noise and filter that component's output. If I couldn't identify the source, I would first try a noise filter on the power leads to the radio. If that didn't work, I'd try an alternator filter next. A marine supply may be your best source, if you're near the water. Look here for ideas:

Also try wiring it directly to the battery.

haha....., spent the weekend up noosa northshore so didnt get a chance hahha.., ill try get around toit and let u guys know how i went

HILUX'S ARE SHIT!!!!! lol..,
funny story completely unrelated but.., was up the beach this hulix ute probably about an 86 or 90 model or somthing was revving its tits off with its cheese cutter tyres on the hard sand me in my pajero shorty on the soft rough as guts 2nd gear high range full pressure in tyres no trouble over took and i was up the beach the whole day with fully inflated tyres 225/70/15 M/T's hahah i felt cool.....
getting back on topic ill definitly let u guys how i go
