This may be more of an elec question, but I have problems removing the trim etc.... the globe is the easy part.
Its a 96 cruiser. I need to change the illumination globe behind the fan/heat controls as its blown. The problem I have is how do I get the control facia off. I cant see how to remove the AC button so I can get to the globes. I don't want to break the switch so I thought I'd ask before I attempt it. The levers just have rubber/plastic ends that slide off and the control panel, from memory, has four screws holding it. But the AC button wont let go.
Thanks

And can be a real PITA to get moving. You need a small screwdriver and just get it under the edge of the small black surround on the switch and try and leaver it out gently. There is no clip or anything they just push in.

are you having trouble getting the facia out or sepperating the heater control from the facia. i thought once the facia was removed the globe was easy to get to. i'll check my manual!

Its just the facia that needs to come out for me to replace the globe. But the AC button seems to stop it from coming out.
Thanks everyone for your comments, I'll give it a try.

the facia has two screws behind the ashtray and two screws behind the slot in the top left corner. then it is just held in by clips. pull facia out.
the a/c botton shouldn't affect it coming out. hope this helps

Sorry, maybe you are confusing which facia. The large one is the easy part, I'm talking about the one with just the heater/fan/ac controls.

AC switch should come out the same as any other switch / switch blank that is in the dash, just get a small flat blade screwdriver and lever it out

So how did you go? I just had the entire dash out of mine. Right back to the firewall. Only thing left was the wiring harness. Never let a rat build a nest in your heater box
Had to replace all the Ducting,HeaterBox,AC box and Blower motor assembly. Rat had eaten holes in all these. But had not touched the wiring at all.
After puting it all back together tonight i noticed the light in the top half of the heater controls doesnt work but im not pulling it back out again. Even once you get the facia off getting the control panel out is a job in its self. Im not even sure you could get it out without pulling the entire dash. And even then the globes are in a PITA spot to get to.
For those who havent read anything about the 80 i bought it came from an Auction and had been stored for 2 years before being Auctioned with a window down and a rat found its way inside and decided to nest in the dash.

Haven't attempted it yet, but I don't want to take out everything. I won't be disconnecting the cables, just want enough room to get my hand in there to change the globe. I'll post it up once I'm finished, but probably won't be until the weekend.
Thanks for the advice
