what size/grade are the standard bolts in the shackles and on the leaf? how much should i be paying from a bolt shop? i don't want to reuse my stock ones when i put my new springs in, i tried ARB / King Springs ect and they will only sell them as a set with new shackles for ~$260

It's not really that straightforward I'm afraid.

Sierra shackle bolts are unique - they are splined on one end and are pressed into the shackle, the shank is 13mm diameter, with a 10mm thread. There is no off the shelf replacement for these.

Replacement, if you want to drill your shackle plates to suit, is best done with 1/2" (12.7mm) bolts.

At the other end, it will depend on whose springs/bushes you are using. I ditch the sleeves, drill the spring hanger out and run 16mm grade 8 plated bolts, however, most replacement bushing kits come with replacement sleeves so you only need a 12mmXabout 120mm bolt.

Always use Grade 8 (indicated by 5 radial lines or "8.8" on the bolt head) for suspension bolts. (In fact, I wouldn't use anything less on a car, anywhere)

ok, had a look into it, my front bushes have a 12mm hole and rears have a 16mm. I'm going to sleeve the rears and use 12mm bolts all round.

i was just wondering why you recommend a 120mm long bolt? i measured the spring / bushes / shackles and the total width is around 70mm.. 120 seems like a fair bit of overkill or do you cut them down?

or is 120mm a standard size therefore cheaper?
