Running a 24v winch on a 12v set up?

I've been offered to swap my XP9500 winch for a 24v Hi-mount but if I'm running 12v, what would I have to do to set the 24v winch up?
:?
Cheers
Joe

Hmm...that would be an idea I guess :D.

Though I would like the extra pull of the 24v.

The 24V motors standard aren't as strong as the 6HP you could put on there. They do however drawer less current.

What are you using the winch For (ie: comp or social) and we don't need any f/whit answers , Cheers Paul.

Just take it, it's a much better winch if it'll fit in your current bar set up and put a 12v motor on it, if you need a 12v motor PM me, I have two second hand motors sitting on my shelf I would part with or a few $$. ;)

Ah edit, like Mart is eluding to, if you don't do comps its not really going to make a world of difference, so instead tell me where the winch is and I'll buy it off your mate! :D

Yeah from now on I'll just search everytime I want to know something .

If we done a search everytime we wanted to know something, there wouldn't be much left to discuss on this forum would there :?.

MART, not sure what you mean by any f/wit answers, but anyway.
I'll mostly be using it for social but I'm looking @ a few utes & 2 have hi-mount bars. I'll probably end up pissing off the bar anyway & getting a custom bar so hi-mount doesn't really phase me. I'll probably stick with the XP9500 anyway as it's already waterproof & of course free spool. It was just food for thought.

Thanks for a couple of the constructive replies anyway.

Not talking about you gu bug, sometimes you ask for help on these forums which are for discussing tech talk as you explained and the thread goes on for days ,but nobody answers the question. A lot of guys will disagree but you can add two baterries to your vehicle, room pending, charge them of isolaters and series them up to run a 24 volt winch. As they would be aux batteries they would work ok. Thats why I asked if you are going to do comps because you might need a seperate alternator to charge them. There are replacement alternators which are quite capable of charging 3 batteries , Cheers Paul.

More than one of those threads have asked and answered exactly your question. Theres plenty of more threads that pop up with the search string "24v winch 12v" if you click search for all terms.

I take it this was meant to be sarcastic, but I dont really see why. Its what you should do in my opinion.

If you searched, found a thread the same as your problem, you could have contributed to that thread. That thread could have then be added to a bible, and the result would be an expanding wealth of information.

Instead, we have 5 threads, all asking the same thing, coming to the same results, which makes it harder for people to find the information they need, if they bother to search anyway.

There would be less pages of useless topics which have been answered previously to look through.
