I know this has been discussed before but I need more some help, I found out off nrma that I can't insure 15x7 offset rims as they r illegal?? I ph TCIS and they quoted me $4600pa for insurance with all mods for $8000 what a joke!
, im on my last year of P's the roza was previously insured under dad's name so it was cheaper. Could anyone let me know what they have done, should I lose my new rims and just put 30" muddies on my oe's is that legal?? is there any easy way out

I think you'll find every insurance company will be the same. Most state laws only allow a maximum diameter increase of 15mm overall for tyres above the largest size listed on the tyre placard (225/70R15 in the case of the Feroza). Also, the rim offset cannot increase the track by more than 26mm.
Your 30" tyres increase the diameter by around 66mm over a 225/70R15! The 15x7" rims
may be legal- I've got that size and mine are, it all depends what offset your rims are.
Basically unless you get engineering approval your mods will never be officially legal and if you have an accident you may have trouble getting a payout. Some people take the risk and don't bother telling their insurance company, I know I've been guilty of that in the past....
Try
www.dgainsurance.com.au for a quote. They will insure any mod,
but only if it's legal in your state..... I changed to them recently and have been very happy with their price and service.

Also if you were a nominated driver on your father's policy you may find that some Insurance coy's may give you some no claim bonus towards your insurance.
What I suggest is the following. Call AAMI, tell them about the accessories and the wheels but dont get into sizes. Say you bought it like that and play dumb with them and you'll find they wont have a problem with it. The more specific you get with them the more they want to know.
And seeing as you're a girl (sorry for the stereotype) throw in a few "it has a radio thingy" and "it's pretty high up" and let them do the deciphering. They record their phone calls and at the end of the day you can turn around and say that you advised them of the mods and they wont have a leg to stand on.
Good luck

Just some info - Australian 4WD Insurance and the policy at
www.dgainsurance.com.au appear to be one and the same (at least from what's writen on my policy). It's underwritten by CGU- who interestingly enough won't cover 4WD's off road under their normal CGU branded policys!?
Mine was $391 for 12mths coverage. I'm a bit older than 21yo though, and rating 1.

Has anybody got postal and/or phone contact details for A4WD Insurance?
...Well I can answer my own question now...:
DGA Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd
256 Queen St
Melbourne 3000
Phone: 03 9670 9344
03 9600 3472
I have now DUMPED TCIS...they wanted over $1500 pa for each vehicle, A4WD Insurance, while not as cheap as I'd hoped, will save me nearly $1000 a year...worth the phone call, I reckon. Bloody expensive to insure in Sydney these days, though 8-(

Well it looks like I'll be insuring under the old man's name again, too expensive otherwise, being 20 u may as well buy another feroza and store it and some ticket's to switzerland or mexico just in case, would be cheaper.
and more fun.
Guess I'll have to wait till I'm older
Im probably going to go with TCIS, at least they have a better deal than NRMA. Previously I was paying $900pa no mods for a crap $7500. TCIS is $950pa + mods for $13000.
Im sill waiting on A4wd, fingers crossed.

Susan Davidson is the person to talk to. Very helpful- and she actually responds to Emails saving interstate calls everytime you've got a question or want a policy change made.

Susan from A4wd contacted me unfortunately they can't cover anyone under 25, so TCIS is the go.
All done, thankyou everyone for your help.

If Allianz were to charge me $250 less than A4WD I'd only be paying $141!
What price did they want to charge you?!
I haven't owned a car for the last 16yrs that hasn't had an alarm/immobiliser fitted, so that side of things didn't worry me. An immobiliser can be a simple as a $5 switch fitted in the right location.

I had a bad experience with Allianz. When I first bought my car it was insured with them. 3 weeks later they sent me a letter and a refund check saying they wouldn't cover the 2.5" Suspension lift...which they had checked out before insuring me
