Yep , iknow this has been done in the general sect but just need your thoughts on this...
===============================================
Im currently insured with AAMI and im considering putting a bodylift on. I already have suspension mods listed on the policy and when i rang today to see if i would be still covered if the bodylft goes in they said.... NO, we will definately not insure u with those mods...... I even explained that i would be prepared to get an engineers certificate on it... STILL NO... She, u know the AAMI chick, even asked me if i intended to drive it offroad... what the ????
Taking my business somewhere else i think....
Whats your insurance companies like ?? or don't they exactly know about your mods.....

I'm with TCIS, to be totally safe get it engineered and them to acknowledge it on paper, thats about as much as you can do.
I haven't done this yet but next year with all the other mods I'll be doing an engineers cert is a must to be totally covered.
But remember if their in the mood they can deny any claim for whatever reason they want.
But the risk would be lower with specialist 4x4 insurers like TCIS.

I'm with tcis as well. they let you do mods to your 4x4 which we consider the norm because they are specialist 4x4 insurers and know that this is what we will do to our cars.

I dont think you can ever win... I rolled my first V6 Swb a few years ago in the bush and got shafted big time... They got me on a few things like non standard fuel tank (had a long range), 16x8 rims (wider than standard) and the body lift. We settled at a well below market value price. If the insurance companies want to wriggle out of something they can! Especially with our 4x4s.
Redrocket: How can you be insured with balljoint spacers? They cannot be engineered or mod plated?
This is where it sux. You run over a pedestrian and it costs you for life.... Even after you get out of jail.
Thats my 2 cents

ok,
I have rung TCIS and they gave me a quote of $1280.00, thats based on a 36k replacement... they were ok with any mod as long as its roadworthy..
Next i rang Just Car Insurance and they quoted $1480 with a $600 excess based on all mods $27,700....
Am waiting for DGA to get back to me...
So far, both of these quotes r twice what im paying now with AAMI...
So what do u guys pay....
with prices like this the bodylift may not get a start....

Rob, mine is around $520/year rating 1 and for an agreed value of $20K (includes mods) but it may go up next year because of the fire claim.

Just heard from DGA. there price came in around the $1200 too... m m m
i didn't think that a dual cab ute would be more expensive to insure than the humble Paj...
I did also ring suncorp and nrma.. They both had lots of conditions, as im sure u can well imagine...
TCIS looks like it will be getting my business then...
Rob..
P.s.. frank, got your car on the road yet ???
