Anyone using Mickey Thompson MTZ's, what do you think of them? Getting a set today in 32 inch for the hilux. Used to run BFG muds but had too many issues with the new style. The MT's seemed to be the best for what I'm after without getting extreme tyre's like simex.

I got a set on my GU wagon (285x75x16) & besides ripping the sidewall after just one week on one of them :x, I'm pretty happy with them.

They seem to be wearing pretty good, work well in the mud & aren't too noisey on the road. I've also had Cooper ST's (ripped 2 sidewalls in 2 months ) & MTR's which I found started to wear pretty quick & weren't that great in the mud down Sth.

I'm sure you'll be happy with them ;).

I've had them on my D3 for around 30 000 km. I had the Cooper STTs before, and these are much quieter on road, yet better traction off-road. They are wearing fairly quick, but then the D3 is a heavy vehicle and I've been fairly rough on them, I think you'll be pleased with them!

Cheers,

Gordon

My MTZ's did Really really well didn't have any puntures in 6500 klms crossing the simpson desert and back across the Plenty hwy a bit of rock damage small chips from driving up the Finke Gorge on a rock creek bed for 100klm, on dirt 30 psi and sand 22 psi and mud, they didn't stop for 17 days straight.
Another guy had the 35" ATZ and they were the same but a few more chips in the lugs this is some of the harshest roads you can test them on and they did a top job

I understand this is a subjective question, but how do you find them for noise on-road?

Not to bad, much better than my claws and about the same as my old Cooper ST's really grippy on the road in the wet

30 psi seems low to me. I believe it would increase tyre wear on road as the tires would be driving more on the outside edges thus wearing out the really grippy bits that make them that much better than all terreains in the tough stuff.

Its personal opinion but ive always run about 40psi on sealed road with my radial claws without issues. Lifted truck will always wear tyres out quicker than standard as the extra height will always result in increased body roll which eventually echoes its way to the tyres thus putting more stress on the outside edges even during mild cornering exercises.

The werid thing is that the outside edges arn't getting touched as i can see were those hairy bits were but the middle i can't...

I wounder if swaybars will help with tyre wear around all the farking round abouts here

Sorry about the hijack...

I've 33's on my surf and i'm over the moon with them.
I've driven on MTR's, BFG Muds & all terrians, Cooper st and swampers and the MTZ's are quieter than all (about the same as BFG all terrians).

They are quieter than my flogged out Bridgestone AT/HT's.
