painting lux acrylic over enamel
hi just a quicky i wanna respray the lux in acrylic and its enamel will i have to take it back to bare metal
If i just overtook you head to your nearest mechanic
Re: painting lux acrylic over enamel
Either repaint it in enamel or paint strip it (chemical or sander). Isolators doesn't always work and even if it does it is are only masking a problem underneath not solving it and it usually causes bigger problems down the track aspecially if you ever have to touch it up.ssfabricator wrote:hi just a quicky i wanna respray the lux in acrylic and its enamel will i have to take it back to bare metal
Cheers Mick.
You cannot get metalics in basecoat enamel. You can only get it in solid metalics like can metalic. If it doesn't come in a can you cant get it. It's total rubbish anyway.chimpboy wrote:Slight hijack, are there particular colours or finishes that work better/worse in acrylic vs enamel vs 2k, eg do you really need to go for 2k for a metallic paint... or do the differences just run across all the different colours?
Always trying to learn more about paint
Acrylic basecoat is also getting limited in what colours are available to. Cerylic (spelling) pearls, Harliquone pearls are not available in acylic.
If your painting something in metalic 2 pack base is really your only option these days if you want it to last.
I'm a spraypainter and our shop doesn't have any acrylic or enamel here at all. It's rubbish and I wont even use it for a backyarder or even a chassis. The price you can buy 2 pack for and the speed it dries has it all over the others.
Cheers Mick.
