I am thinking of converting my 90series Prado to LPG but have heard that the 3.4V6 doesn't like LPG and i were wondering if any body has had 1st or even 2nd hand experience with the 3.4 on LPG or if this is just another "my neighbors cousins workmates brothers friends father" fallacy. I have heard that overlander did a report saying when buying to steer clear of the prados on LPG but i cant find anybody who has actually had any issues.

Don't know a great deal about that engine however I'll assume its like the 80 and 100 4.5 in that its a bucket and shim valve adjustment, Toyotas origional valve seats aren't great and are prone to valve recession, some things that help are making sure the LPG mixtures are correct, not too lean but also not too rich. Set your valve clearances regularly and set the exhausts on the big end of the scale. If the valve clearances are tight then the exhaust valve spends less time on the seat where it dissapates heat to the head and cooling system, as the heat dosen't dissapate the problem rapidly goes from bad to worse.
When the heads give up the ghost, 150-200k klms if you look after them then you get hardened valve seats in the reco heads that can withstand the additional temperature.
