I made one for a 100 series couple of years ago that had 4 front centres under warranty before Toyota said piss off, it was a part timer to so set the backlash tight like you would a drag racing diff as the pinion drives out of the ringgear.

How much room do you normally allow for shims?
10 to 20 thou?

There has been some recent talk about this on MUD. I wish I had pushed the idea a few months back. It may not be the most convenient but Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters here in the States is working on one. You might check in with him and see where he's at with it.

If you mean to replace the crush tubes?
You have to make them depending on diff set up and what shims you have available.
After market gears vary alot to OEM sets.
Generally I make up a general spacer then shim it up to suit.
Once gearset is setup I measure shims used and reproduce spacer adding on the shim material to get the final solid spacer length.
It also vairies if you have used new bearings or old bearings.
New bearings are setup alittle tighter.
So it is hard to supply a spacer.
have to machine one

Yep as per nissan diff, shims are the only way to make a works for all solution, I had a lathe at the time and kept reducing the spacer until the desired bearing preload.

I'm pretty sure TOTAL TRACTION DRIVE LINES do a solid spacer for 80's I know they do one for 60's & 75's.
Not sure of the number there in Moorabin Vic.

You can purchase diff shims from Toyota (I was a budding Toyota parts manager untill i quit yesterday
)
I cannot remember the part number of the top of my head, but, if you head into your local toyota dealership get the parts interpreter to look up the rear diff in a 40 series and it is there just behind the collapsible spacer.
Depending on the EPC (Electronic Parts Catalouge) either it be PartFinder or MicroCat, the spacer will ONLY be listed under a 40 series, and off memory its about 10 thou each, and they will fit nearly any diff.

Need a little more than 10thou to replace a collapsable shitm
That's just so the thieving pricks can reuse them

That would be alot of 10thou's
And pinion bearing preload generally requires something a little more clinical than 10thou increments
