gday guys

ive just had a safari snorkel fitted to my 92 2.8lux and i can hear alot of engine noise from it. is that normal? is there anyway to fix it?

hey man make sure everything is secured properly and there is sufficient clearence between the bolt holes. When it touches the sound resinates.

you can also fit a sock in the top of the snorkel this should stop that noise if all else fails

when I had my hilux I never had any noise after I fitted my snorkel what brand snorkel did you get?
current truck, 105 series GXL diesel 6" springs & twin pro lockers
sierra LWB spoa one wide track diffs twin locked

This problem is common with this vehicle. If there is any metal on metal it will vibrate causing all noise to come through. And you will probably find that it is the bolts on the A pillar (next to your window) that are giving you the problem....

ive started getting used to it now and i finally have my car back so i can play with it see if i can stop it. i turn my stereo up to a reasonable level i dont wanna go deaf yet ;) cheers for your help guys

another thing you can check is that it has the little restrictor the AIR intake just under the AIR RAM. It has a 30mm ID. if not you could make one. This is because that is the only model that gets engine resinance through it and this restrictor lessens this engine noise.

Although as i said if properly installed you shouldnt need it.

They dont have a negative effect on engine performance. Please see the little ring between the AIR RAM and SNORKEL BODY.
