Gday I have a Lightforce 140 with a 75w globe mounted on my rifle, it runs off a 8amp /h battery that u were around your waist.
What i am wanting to do is replace this 75w globe with a 35w hid, to get more light and a longer lasting battery.
Can any one tell me if the 35w hid will run hotter than the 75w standard globe as i dont want to damage the light. Also the globes are 35w but do they actually only draw 35w from the battery??

Thanks Shane

Hid globes generate much less heat & draw less current, it will draw 35w & maybe just a little more for Ballast losses

hid's rating is for the total energy needed..... hid's use a little more on start of ballist and ignighter (sp?) when firing the bulb... but after that they use fark all power...... as for heat only 1/5th the heat of a halogen

Dont know the exact temperature that a 75 watt halogen bulb runs at.
A 130 watt runs at 480 to 500 degrees centigrade.
A 45 watt metal halide (HID) bulb runs at 120 to 140 degrees.
