My CT20 is pretty crook, and they are rareish and seem to be kinda expensive when you can find one.
What are the alternatives ? T28 (what A/R) Is a T3 to big if it has a lowish say sub 60 A/R ? ..
$$ are important and I will happily run another CT20 if I can get a decent one cheap enough (say $500 or less .. 8 psi boost is enough for me ... I just need to get a Ute back on the road ... a camry and a Zuk are not much good for taking big lots of messy stuff to the tip, or getting loads of firewood)

my ct20 is in getting reco'd and hi flowed as we speak. its gonna cost $900, a little more then you were hoping to spend but for piece of mind its well worth it.

Mine will need a new exhaust side housing as the cracks from the wastegate are pretty big, I have been told it is marginal to rebuild.
There is a place in NZ that will do brand new ct20's for $650NZ plus about $80NZ for shipping. (Which is what I think I will do)

really ?
they are usually comman as mud. if you really get stuck i think there are a few NZ wreakers who can send some over.
i'm sure there must be a heap you could buy from on the surf site.

Been looking and PMing (surf site) about the one's that are there, but no-one seems to return messages on that board .. I am bidding on one on Ebay as well.

don't PM (private message) as you will get flagged as spam. there is plenty of surf friendly wreakers posted, i would be suprissed if they didn't have one. i'm sure someone must have a dud one you can get a housing off.

G'DAY,
Try ALL 4 WD SPARES in Dandenong on 9791 1922 they've got a lot of Surf parts on the shelf (no heads or blocks though) there's a few CT20 turbo units there may even split one for a housing.
Cheers.

Thanks guys .. will be on the phone in the morning (i just want another turbo, will rebuild this one at some stage if I can get a housing .. but at the moment all my money is going on finishing my laundry.. baby is very very imminent)
That said surely there are better turbo's for 2l's than the CT20 .. anything with a roller bearing core perhaps ???

plenty of better turbo's, just getting them to fit is the problem. custom manifolds etc are not cheap. afaik it would be cheaper just to hiflow a ct20. i havn't heard of a direct bolt on replacement.
if you can get a 2lt-e ct20 turbo (water cooled i think).

I have a cad drwaing to create an adapter plate from to suit the yota log style exhaust manifold to a garret T3 turbo flange ... been quoted about $100 to build, even a steam pipe manifold could not really cost that much (having never priced one ... I am sure I will be shcoked at the actual price)

what did it end up costing ? and what was replaced..
Once I get a few $$ together I may look at getting my old one done and swap it over and sell the second hand. (if the payoff in HP/reliability is worth it of course)

Thats not to bad, as the best I have been quoted for just the seals is is about $375 (from a place in NZ) ..
So basically you have what amounts to a new turbo.. If my ebay sale falls through I will look into it ... can you PM me the contact details of where you got it done ...

a bit to big unless your planning on running really high boost levels. its proberly more suited to 2.8 conversions.
