GQ Patrol from Panama
GQ Patrol from Panama
Guess it's about time for me to introduce my GQ...
http://69.89.25.186/~fouxfoup/foro/showthread.php?t=488
It's in spanish, but I guess those of you who don't speak spanish can get an idea of what's going on. Any questions, feel free to ask.
Look forward for your opinions.
Regards,
Mario

Fark I love google translate
It says that you have tapeworm in your diffs
Here have a look
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http% ... en&ie=UTF8
That also reminds me of a thread from 2005 about Tuff truck.
Its info on competitors translated from english into spanish then back into english
http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... ht=#549623
On Peter Antunac's crusier it says this;
Updated back axes
Front axes modified to agree with the buttocks

Agreed, nice GQ mateberetta wrote:Pictures speak all languages, nice truck dude!
It must of taken alot of effort as I'm sure GQ parts are not plentiful like here.

Thanks all. And yes, GQ aftermarket is quite scarce here. We get our stuff from the US, and since Patrols are not sold there, it's not as easy as it is for a TLC or Jeep guy. All we can get from US is ARB/OME. Parts from Australia are expensive to us because of shipping. Anyways, look forward to save enough money for a set of Marks (Gearmaster) 3.74:1 transfer gears in the future.Mowie wrote:Agreed, nice GQ mateberetta wrote:Pictures speak all languages, nice truck dude!

Very sexy Patrol Mate.
The 37's on those rims with that amount of lift it all seems to be made for each other.
My next car was going to be a jeep wrangler but this has me thinking.
Very bling indeed... Especially the tapeworms

When your site is translated into english it miss-translates the internals of your differentials. IT says you have put tapeworms in your diff's.
Tapeworms are little parasites that live inside of animals and humans... http://www.dr-dan.com/tapeworm.htm and have absolutely nothing to do with the contents of your Patrols Diffs.

The Safari snorkel costed $275.00 in Miami, but that was a while ago. I understand they are more expensive now. Here in Panama I think they go for around $350.00 so it´s an OK price if you add $275.00 in Miami + shipping to Panama.
Maybe we can arrange something. Do you travel to Panama or have a relative that does so? Because Ã

Hey Mario,
Thanks a lot for your offer, and yes the taxes here in Costa Rica are so high. Right now is little bit difficult cause I'm out of money, so in case I can save some I would let you know, but thanks a lot anyway.....
And to let you know something else, there some guys here in Costa Rica that are able to build any snorkel copy, but using an original one to get the mold out of it, they look like the original ones.....
Cheers hermano.....

I´m aware of that. There´s lot of talented guys in CR, specially fiberglassing. Let me know if I can help you somehow....macorti wrote:And to let you know something else, there some guys here in Costa Rica that are able to build any snorkel copy, but using an original one to get the mold out of it, they look like the original ones.....

i think the welds for your bracket are too light weight and will break. need to groove the welds for more penetration, turn the heat up and slow it down more. you also need to run the weld bead all the way around the end. stopping the beads where you have will definitely cause the cracking to start there.
nice patrol through.

Thanks. Good point buddy. Will forward this to the welder to know what he says.N*A*M wrote:i think the welds for your bracket are too light weight and will break. need to groove the welds for more penetration, turn the heat up and slow it down more. you also need to run the weld bead all the way around the end. stopping the beads where you have will definitely cause the cracking to start there.

Re: ..
I was over in Panama City for 2 weeks last year and fark me the driving is insane. I thought the driving was bad in my 3rd world country but at least we have mandatory vehicle insurance laws and leaving the scene of an accident before the police get there is a crime. It blew my mind to learn vehicle insurance wasnt a law over there and once no one was hurt in an accident you could just drive off if your vehicle was driveable and forget about the other person involved. If I was livin over there I'd have even more steel protection on my vehicle I think.Mario wrote:bogged wrote:but no pedistrian would ever damage it....bj on roids wrote:he recycled the titanic to build that bad boy!!bogged wrote:I like the rear bar on that thing.. very neat

Another thing that struck me as a bit odd was the 4-6" lift blocks in the front of all the ex-American-style schoolbuses and the 10 foot chrome exhaust stacks on the back of em. Oh and they had tassles too. Wtf are tassles doing on buses!??!?!
Nice looking patrol and lotsa sweet wheeling over there. Pity I didnt get a chance to get out of the city.
Re: ..
Took it off last weekend to make a lighter one with spare tire carrier. It weighted almost 300 lbs. Will post pics of the new one soon....bj on roids wrote:he recycled the titanic to build that bad boy!!bogged wrote:I like the rear bar on that thing.. very neat
