Diesel Detonation

Recently in another thread I spoke of detonation in a certain model of Toyota.
I have seen this a lot in electronically controlled 4cyl diesels usually number 3 as the pitting of the head and top of bore gets worse either the head gasket lets go or the head cracks.Recently I had a late 2H engine that had been detonating in number 6 and was using water looked at head gasket no sign of leaking visualy inspected block all looked well cylinder head did'nt look pretty but did a crack test and suction test on it and it tested fine magna fluxed bore and it was cracked about 2 inches down 1 or so inches around.It was on std, I've never seen this in a 2H before.
Has any one else had a 2H crack a std block?
