I went out on a club trip the other weekend and saturday no problems next morning engage centre diff didn't think to look at light as it always seems to come on next thing had to be snatched not locked, drove up hill for about 500 metres and it flicked on and off a couple of times then came on, disengaged it later on went to lock again but no luck can anyone offer any suggestions it's a LT95 box and transfer. I pull the cdl lines off and it seems to have vaccum
Thanks

Hi MQ,

Might be quicker overall to drain the TCase and remove the actuator to see what is going on using vacuum or comp air. The diaphragm inside sometimes fails and there is an O ring that can wear and let TCase oil fill one side of the void stopping the vacuum moving the diaphragm. The O ring can be replaced if you find oil inside. I'd replace it anyway while you've got it off. You will also be able to see if the prob is with the switch or the actuator.

Removal also lets you make sure the warning light switch is correctly adjusted. Most important. Bad switch adjustment has led to a number of people driving around on bitumen with light off, thinking the CDL is unlocked when it is still locked. Weird tyre wear if lucky, trashed CDL and TCase internals if unlucky. I was one of the former.

Some actuators are fixed on with hex heads, others with big phillips screws. Make sure that the fork from the actuator is correctly engaged in the groove in the dog clutch on re-assembly - it's a bit tricky.

cheers, DL
