I thought the crusers front coils tapered down to a smaller diameter at the front lower perch, unlike the rover.

They do, but if you flip the spring perch over (unbolt it, flip and rebolt it) they fit inside nicely. Ill try and find the pirate thread on it

It is good.....but there is still the question of what to use in the rear??? what sort of lift does the rear get with standard 80 series rear springs??? will it be the same as the front???

grab the rear ones if you're doing 80 springs and we can make em fit
BTW, I measured your lift today, and you have 1" on the front (springs must have sagged) and 2" on the back. This is in comparison to the range rover

On my Disco2 the front weighs 1.1T, the rear 1.2T, so I would expect in a Disco1 that the spring installed lengths will come up at about the same - if that helps.

what free length are the 3" springs?
as i think mine have sagged bout 2.5 inches (which is handy for me atm due to wife being 8 months cooked)

I got lovells Range rover 2 inch springs which lifted the Disco v8 75mm. Thats a good option as the price is really good and I have had them in for 2 years and they aren't sagging yet.
