anyone got one? what are they like? im bout to buy one tomorrow and im wondering if it will be ok?
ive already got a 40lt engel that i use on weekend trips but i want something for day trips to keep a 6 pack nice and cold and whatever else i put in there..
i know it wont freeze my beer like my engel does but are they good enough to keep drinks nice and cold? if i put some ice bricks in the bottom will it help?
the one im thinking of is the 14lt waeco.
the supercrap auto sale should have them at $160 so its cheap enough for me ;)

You can get a 14lt cheapy that'll do the same job for around $60.00.

They're fine for cooling drinks and keeping food (meat, etc.) cold for overnighters, but they use a heap of power (5 amps continuous), so are relly only any good while you're driving or if you have a BIG secondary battery or a gennie.

Sounds like it'll be fine for the application you have in mind.

The trick with them is to run it on a 240v adapter at home before you stick in the car when you're going away.

i got one of these 2 weeks ago and took it camping at black duck to keep the piss cold, i ran it off an old battery i had lying around and it lasted on the battery from 3pm sunday till 8 the next morning when i put it back in the car. very good the piss stayed cold. btw i put all the cans and bottles in hot at 12pm on the sunday and by 3pm they were ready to drink.

or this one as they 45L doesn't come with the 240v adapter but i run it on a old bat anyway.

i got the waeco one already :x i should have looked around properly but oh well.

seems to work ok, i put a warm 2lt orange juice in and around 2hrs later it was nice and cold so im happy with it so far.
only thing is when i put some cans of beer in, it seems to give the mouth of the can a funny taste. theres like an electrical smell inside the cooler and it seems to make the cans smell funny when i drink.
it said in the manual to clean it out before use and i did that but the smell is still there :?

When you store it, leave the lid a little bit open. I put a folded paper napkin there to keep it 5 mm open. Of course you have to dry out the inside properly first! That way it vents, and you don't get the smell anymore.
