nope wont even do that much well i think the noise that it did make was the compressor .. when you flick the switch nothing happens at all i look switch apart and cleaned it was all good and checked wire connections ... is it common for compressor to break ??

not sure, try locate the compressor in the rear on the passenger side i think.. i never actually looked for mine, it worked without any probs.
once u find it try conecting power directly to it and see if it works like that

It's hidden in the left rear wheel arch, on the forward side of the arch. I think there's an access panel inside the cabin, on top of the arch.

Otherwise, just trace the hose coming out of the diff to where it ends up forward of the left rear wheel.

It sounds to me like your switch in the dash may be the problem though. Either that or the locker's "ecu" harness (it has it's own little doo-dad to control the lights and only lock when in 4Lo). I think this is located nearby to the compresor???

You should also check the rear Diff detection switch plug on top of the diff, and and also where it connects into the main wiring loom above the left rear trailing arm.

If you are not getting any compressor activation, then you need to check back to the Compressor and the ECU. Both of these on a SWB are in behind the lining on the left hand rear side. To get into there you will need to unbolt the two lower bolts of the left front and rear seat belts, if I remember in behind the rear ashtray there is a screw(s) to remove, then remove any of the plastic plugs that hold the lining on, and move the complete lining away from the side. You may have to remove a rear seat.

The ECU is mounted just below the rear window in about the middle. The compressor is around there somewhere also (forward of ECU but very close).
Once you have accessed the compressor/ECU, you should be able to put a meter onto the wiring right through.

I can send you a rear diff lock wiring diargam for 3.0/3.5L, but not the 2.5L, however I suspect they will be very similar. PM me if you need this.

i took out the compressor and hooked power directly to it and is working fine .. why are there 2 ecu's (black boxes) rite near the compressor what is the second one for ?? does anyone have any ideas what it could be now that the compressor is fine ??

Not sure what the second ECU is, maybe electronic suspension (if you have it).

If compressor is fine, then you need to check all plug connections as mentioned. Then recheck the locker switch, then the ECU (not sure how ?)
Otherwise you may have a wiring break.

Do the dash lights register 4wd properly? I don't think the diff locks in 2wd, so you may have a problem there?

yes all the other lights work correctly when locking into differnt 4x4's .. could of my body lift have disconnected something or snapped a wire ?? although i cant see anything broken or disconnected has it happened before ?? because it hasent worked since i done my body lift now i think about it !!!

For the diff lock to engage it has to be in 4 wheel drive & low range or ir wont work. body lift should no affect it.
