Without the smart a#$e comments, what are some of the things that I need to checkout? Like common issues?? Been a runner/hilux man so far, but have a family and cruisers are too much money compared to a patrol for value for money.

All help greatly appreciated.

I'll start with a couple of small ones, how big of an issue it is, is up to you.

Rust in the rear window sills. Rust around the roof gutters.
Cracks in the floor pan under the drivers and or passengers feet.

What engine and what body type are looking at going with?

Looking '92+ LWB Petrol.

Have already got 2" body, 4" spring lift and 35s approved by $$$ controller.

That will be the start. Air locker front after some more $$$ saved. ;)

Check power steering for leaks (lots replace with GU unts anyway)

Check around body mounts, suspension mounts for cracks on ones that have been off road touring etc

dodgy seat rails are very common

Cheers Mick.

check rear upper spring mounts for cracking, porportioning valve for leaks, cracks in chassis on inside of rails at rear lowwer trail arm mount, broken engine mounts, suspention bushes, tie rods if it has male threaded tie rods check they are not bent, check steer arms are not bent, inner gaurds are not cracked under battery tray area on both gaurds n spot welds on seam at bottom of windscreen pillar, chassis crack on inside of rails at steer box
Some of these are common some not good to check tho

Well thanks for all that I will print them off and go through them like a checklist, I know that there is a bit of age in the old girls but there are a few good looking ones out there, that appear good on the outside so this info will make the job of finding a really good one a bit easier, thanks again guys.

Keep it shiny side up, or have good insurance.

Good thing is all your probs are going to be body related, drive train on these girls is the toughest around.
