Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Apart from Gas research is there any mob that makes a straight gas carb for small fours , 1.2 ,1.5 litres ?

any idea what nads was using on there zook based buggy ?

I got sick of paying 560 bucks a month for fuel to and from work,
so got a daihatsu charade it was costing 240 a month , it died the other day , so i thought try bus train cost 543.20 a month
so im hooked on getting it done as cheap as possible ,
I found a 120y Datto and im going to straight gas it
I wanna do it for under a 100 a month even if i have to run razor blades for tires at 100psi and take the side mirrors off for wind efficiency .

impco have a few but there not very common in aus

impco 125 is a single barrel straight gas carb with built in throttle body

Why not try a forklift place for a carby? Most of the forklifts use a motor based on a Datto if they dont just use the A12.
I dont think it will work real well on a road car personally. When you take into account the fack you will be flogging the bejesus out of a 120Y on LPG for it to move at highway speed and accelerating the wear on the old beast it may well be false economy.

look on ebay it is the best place to find impco carbys. the other day the was about 2 pages of them.

motor so small wont really benefit from a dedicated carb, just put a Bunsen burner spacer and complex mixer your done, under $100 all up.

Its not like that little thing will be lean on a ring setup.

Gasresarch make a 270 cfm I've used on heaps of small engines, once a trike with an 800cc Yamaha motor. I also sucessfully fitted 3 on a 186 Holden to replicate the triple SU carbs that came off. If you want cheap and aren't concerned about maximum performance/economy then a BBQ ring will do the job. I find complex converters to be quite unreliable though once theyre a couple of years old.

Fit a complex converter, that way you can run a simple feed plate as the mixer ( bbq burner style )

Rip the std carby off, remove the butterfly(s), cut out the venturies etc so it has a good air flow, seal up any holes ( accelerator jet squirters etc ), re-fit the butterflys,
& hey presto ........ instant gas carby !

Did a 500cfm holley like that last week & it works a treat, I even trashed the fuel bowl & plate so it was just the throttle body that was left.

Advantages.... no stuffin around making or getting aircleaners / addaptor
plates / finding spots to plug in vacume hoses etc etc etc
&
Its the right CFM for that engine allready
