Hi chaps.
When I got my hilux, it was missing its water drain/ water level warning unit that screws into the base of the standard fuel filter.
Instead, it had a Z169a fuel filter fitted.
I would like to fit the proper filter, and drain/water level unit, but the new ones are $$$$$$, and the wreckers only want to sell the pump/filter/drain as a complete unit. If anyone here has one surplus to requirements, please let me know.
I would also like to fit an inline CAV 296 filter with water bowl, so I can see the condition of the fuel, etc.
However I have heard that the rotary pump in these hilux motors dosent like having an extra filter to draw though, and it damages the pumps.
Can any diesel tecs out there confirm that these pumps dont like that sort of work?? Or what filter system you run.
cheers chaps

Dude go to your local Diesel specilist and get yourself the complete CAV set-up (has the hand primer fitted) should cost about $90-100 for memory.
Then just take your current hand primer etc off and keep it as a spare.
Or if you dont want to replace your current hand primer set up but want to use the CAV filter set-up I have the screw on sitting here in my shed (needs a new glass bowl) $25 .
If you want it PM me your address and I`ll post it off to you.(remember you`ll need to buy the bowl ) or transfer me the money and I`ll get it for you. Thats all it`ll cost you the price of the bowl
