V6 Holden into 4 runner questions

Hi,

I have purchased a wrecked VS commodore with the intent of putting the V6 into my runner using the G52 manual box. I have the radiator, Thermofan & fuel pump and everything to run the motor.

Have been researching for acouple of weeks now and just want to check i have not missed anything.

Mechanicals:

1.Engine mounts.
2.Bellhousing.
3.Flex plate adaptor.
4.V6 pressure plate a V8 clutch disc.

Electricals:

1. Interface loom. Is it simply plug and play? I am some what electronically minded but am no Auto Electrician.

2.I have been told that because the V6 i have is an auto, i need some modifications to the loom to run the VSS. Can anyone confirm/explain this in more detail for me?

3. Body control module. Does this simply plug into the interface loom.

Random:

1.Do i have to run a surge tank if i use the EFI pump out of the VS?

I am sure there is something i have missed so please feel free to advise me of anything i have overlooked.

Thanks guys

hi im doin the same conversion on my rocky.
The wiring loom from vr onward are different for manuals and autos.
im doin a vp so dont need BCM just the ECM and a manual memcal (chip) and the vss.
Which pump are you goin to use the vs pump is on the sendor unit. I tried to fit the commdore tank but not enough room. using a vl pump.
All the wiring looms ive seen you need to hook up about 6 wires.

Good luck Craig :)

The ecotec will break the G52 gearbox If you want manual use a R151 gearbox
[ 1 ] Most harnesses are plug and play
[ 2 ] I use 13 kg nodular iron flywheels in my conversions
[ 3 ] use the VP computor and harness on the ecotec engine I have been using this system on ecotec and supercharged L67 conversions, A lot of woodies tell me it cant be done but I have proven them wrong
[ 4 ] Fit 10mm pick up pipe into the tank use the VL fuel pump [easier to replace if pump fails especially with a full tank
I use the hilux diesel radiator with a 11 blade viscous hub fan

Like the sound of running a ecotech engine on a vp harness.
Could you give us some more info on this conversion?

What happens to the air flow meter etc?

Cheers

MAP sensor replaces the air flow meter
You can use the VS air box with the temp sensor
You do not need a modified memcal
In over 200 manual conversions I have only had to fit 8 VSS units

I put a VP with auto into an 81 lux couple of years ago and from what i found the VSS was only needed so the computer could turn on the torque converter lock up solinoid, the auto for it was hydralic control for gear selection. If you were keeping the auto with the VS you would need a VSS as the body control module controls the gears. With the manual, the only reason i could see it still needing a VSS is it may only run in closed loop mode above a certain speed. eg highway driving. Im not sure though.
