SWB Rear bar help (pics, info, oppions) would be great

hi
I have just started to get into the 4wd seen ad i did a lift on my SWB gq and i went for a 4wd over the week end and hit my rear bumper thing that pushed up and broke a little bit off my taillight.
I'm know going to make a rear bar and buy some sliders..
I have ordered some 32 N Bore Gal tube
It's 42mm x 4.0mm thick.
I have made a quick pic up in paint of what i'm thinking of making for my car..
I want to put the botom bar under the rear quarter then weld a end pipe to it and them join the top bar to it and run it back to the tow bar.
Also the reason i am joining it to my tow bar is so i can take it off and on by just removing the pin.
I want to run the bottom tube below the bottom of the quarter but not right under and the have the top bar say 4cm out further then the bottom and just angel the braces to suit.
My Question is
Will having it supported by just the tow bar bit in the middle be strong enough and also added in braces along the way?
Is the steel i choose a good size and strength as don't wanna waste my time and money rather do it once and right.
Also does anyone have any pics or anything of what i'm trying to make or am i the only one trying to make a removable rear bar for the weekends ?
Thanks heaps guys
Rick.
Like this one but make the bottom bar go under the quarter and i have a different rear tow bar...
Just a rough idea and that's before the lift
Cheers
Rick.

if your going to the effort of building a rear bar, make it properly, you might as well build it as a replacemnt bar, tie in a couple of recovery points, id look at something similar to the first pic you posted,
what happens if you need to do a recovery, are you going to remove the bar to access the haymann reese hitch or what? it think it will wobble and vibrate and bend if hit hard enough with one central mounting point,

What ya mean do the whole bar ?
it's not like i'm making it just for the left side
i don't understand what ya mean...
Fark i don't know what to do now
I don't wanna cut my quarters and i don't want to smash them all up i want to try protect them as being a shorty there quarters are prone to hit stuff correct?
Cheers for ya help
Rick.

Remove the entire factory rear bumper and make a new one. That is what they rare trying to say. Otherwise it will look like a piece of shit

Yeahhhh...gotta go with the remove the crappy factory bar and make up a new bar that will mate up to the mounting points on the chasis where the existing bar attaches.....that and f**k the yokel horns off

what i meen is, lose the idea of a bar that attaches to ya reciever, and lose the factory bar! get the idea of doing a whole new bar. (by whole bar i mean one that attaches direct to the chassis, has the reciever as a part of it, has sliders on the qrtrs as part of it, is as solid as a brick shit house, and isnt gunna shake like buggery on corrugations and bend as soon as you lean it on something!
start from scratch or mod the existing bar, but scrap the idea of a removeable one! make it look good and ya wont want to remove it anyway.
Edit: oh yeah, y would you want to make it removeable in the first place??
that bits got me stumped!

http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/search.php
billionteen threads on rear bars, plans, pics and makign them.
the dudes are trying to say piss the original bar off completely, and replace it with something you make.
and if you really wanna look like the comp dudes, like some of the webwheelers, cut your rear 1/4's off while at it - and if you wanna ask what that means again
http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/search.php for 100ty threads on that too...

Its ok to tell Rick to search, but as i said in my thread,
http://carl.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic.php?t=105401 i did the search thing but alot of the time the pics are now missin, as well all know a pic tells a thousand words. So it can make it hard to see what people are talking about in there write ups. Its almost like we need to start putting fresh pics on here, so people have got something to look at.I would post up pics of what iam doing, if i could figure it out properly

Cheers guys
I'm not sure what to do now as i like the rear bumper thing as is...
The reason i wanted to make it remoavble is becuase i don't go 4wding every arvo mainly weekends and didn't want to have a ugly rear bar on all the time...
If i could design something that looked good i would remove the factory one and bolt one straight up.
Thanks
Rick.
Does anyone ahve some pics of rear bars there seen that look the goods?
Rick.

No it does not offer and quarter protection. I am going to mod one of mine to suit a quarter chop and give extra protection on the sides.

You don't want the version with the light cutouts on the wings as they bend up if you hit them hard. The reversing lights are not original. I cut them out to fit.

I think he may be taking about the new ARB Bars for GU's, they dont make them for GQ's yet last time i checked.
