Ok guys, have got the bigger carby and manifold plus reground camshaft and modded head to go on the G13a.

To those who have done these replacements what special tools do I need and or can i get away without using them. I've gone through the service manual and have come up with the following that i need to get these parts on and off.

-crankshaft special tool to flywheel from moving when taking bolts off pulley.

-rod to stop camshaft moving while getting camshaft timing pulley off

-valve lifter attachment (big g clamp) - do i need?

-valve guide remover - do i need?

Sounds about right.

have u got access to rattle gun? if so u may not need special tools to hold things.

u will need a g clamp style of thing for the valves.

You will need one of these to remove valves , mine is a dowidat brand and it is used to compress springs to remove valve collets which are in two pieces. As for timing gear bolt just get someone to hold brakes on in gear and use a ring spanner and give it a whack with your hand , mine always comes off , or slide a piece of pipe over spanner. As for the valve spring compressor and new valve guides , you might need new valves as well so I recomend a engine reconditioner , they are not that expensive , get a quote and if your head hasn't been off in a long time you might need to have it machined flat , Mine cost 90 dollars and he checked the valves as well. As for the first item I don't think you need it unless your stripping whole engine , Cheers Paul.
