I was quoted $900 for a front GU housing alone, & then they'll give me $450 for mine once i swap the innards over.

$900 is that with swivel hubs, brakes,cv's and axles as only the centre fits the gu from the gq ?I too would like to go gu diffs but too expensive me thinks.

Will GU cv's and diff centre fit into GQ axle housing and pumpkin? or do you need to replace the lot, disc to disc? Probably a dumb question, but anyway there it is.
Also, is it worth swapping rear axles and diff, or are the GQ's tough enough?
Any probs running GU front, GQ rear, 4.625 ratio on each?

GU/GQ centers are the same all the fronts are H233. If you have a relatively new ARB then it will fit in either GQ/GU front no problems. If its an old GQ locker then the GU axles will be 5-10mm to long. THeres some kind of block in the locker that can be removed though, so the rumour goes.
But nothing else will swap over. As there wider, so longer axles. Brakes are different and better. CV, are bigger and better etc.
But they will almost bolt straight into a GQ. Just need new Panhard rod and steering arm.

yeah cool. What about rear? Is it better swapped too, or is GQ tuff enough?

Which is the RD78a locker i believe, anyone know for sure that if you have this locker you dont need to hack the 5mm off the axles

From what I understand the thrust block or whatever it is in the locker has been removed and works fine in either.

I paid 1500CASH at central coast4X4 wreckers without the center and threw the locker straight across. BEAWARE, my mate got caught out, we think it was a 4.8, but the calipers were were too thick to put a 15X8 rim over them without doing nasty shit to them.
ohyeah, in all the excitement dont forget to laminate it first, they cost too much togo bending
i got gu front
