mate told me he's getting 12.5 lt/100km in his 4.2 td gu 2002 going to melb. from adelaide , i don't think so what do you think?

Yeah, doable with a light foot and light load.

I scored average 14/100 with a full tray, fairly heavy foot and mixed high range 4wd and 2wd over 7500klms through central, two years ago.

I used 3/4 of the main tank in a empty GU Ute comming back from Tamworth to Canberra about 3 weeks ago .... 3/4=70ish L I guess for 697kms.

It was really pi55ing down hard all the way so I had to sit on 90km/h as that was all the traffic was doing and I didnt feel like pushing any harder anyway.

I reckon it could be possible.

i went from dubbo to gosford in just over half of tank(90L tank), in my n/a diesel gq 4.2, and did 1166klm(broken hill to gosford) in $200

so its well doable i say............. no wait,, experienced

edit: in a lwb wagon filled up with my house shit, just sat on about 100-105 all day

Put mine on the weighbridge last sunday, 2223kg.
Its a DX coilcab + genuine nissan bar with brush guards and a towbar, stock everything else.
I didnt have the tray sides on.
The tray is a alloy bed. 2 ropeboxes, steel frame and head board.

So its not that much lighter than a wagon is it ??

yes possable i get around 14l/100 on a trip with pump mods and running 17-20psi boost even towing camper trailer only drops to15l/100 my ST coil cab weighs 2900 empty, steel tray,ARB bar and steps winch,240l tanks,twin batteries

It's not a Patrol, in a factory T/diesel 100 series wagon I can easily get 11 L/100

Only mods thus far is chip and exhaust.

I would be pretty dissapointed if i owend a Diesel Patrol and wasnt getting those figures....My Defender returns about 10.5-11 per 100 on swampers/on standard tyres i can get down to 9lts/100 on the highway(as long as the wind is blowing the right way )

I average 13.2/100 driving from Canberra to Albury with the cruise set on 115kph. 4.2 '99 ST wagon, Bar, Dual Batteries, Snorkel, Drawers, and Winch.

My 85 rangie with isuzu 4BD1T is currently getting 9l/100km (30mpg) on a flat open road (100km/h) run.

Gets closer to 10l/100km if you throw an 800m high mountain pass in the way.

Speed has a huge influence on mileage. What speed was your mate travelling?

i get 10 to 11 / 100 hwy driving in a 4.2 turbo and intercooled patrol
but around town that blows out to 18 to 19 / 100 as i have a heavy foot

if i can get 10.7/100 in my 81 diesel MQ, then getting 12.5/100 in a 02 gu should be no hassle at all... its a diesel, its turbo'd, its doing a long trip. it has all it needs for half decent fuel fugures

I get 13ltrs/100ks at 110kph with a turbo intercooled td42. Its a gq wagon with 300k on the clock.

a T/D Patrol should get great figures I get 11-12l/100km Hwy driving out of the 1uz with are reasonably heavy foot in my 4Runner with 34"s and it weighs 1950kg

10/100 pretty much every where with or without a lead foot . Unless I am towing, driving on sand, or driving more than 100k/hr

15 to20L /100km 99 st td4.2ute, has been up tp 30L with quick trip to sydney with car trailer.

I get about 15lo/100km in a TD 80 series. Running 18psi boost mixed city driving. And I use whats there too.

14l/100kms would be very doable I reckon. In a diesel anyway.

I average about 12, with a best of 11 and worst of 13 in all situations, city driving, highway,towing and wheeling in a 75 ute with 280K on the clock however I rarely go over 100km/h.

I averaged 14.1 ltrs per 100kms over the long weekend and thats LPG .
