Tyre Pressure.

Post by ZOOK92 »

Morning all, ( I did search)

I have a 92 4Runner, on 31x10.5x15 BFG M/T. I just want to know some

ideas on the pressure required in the tyres for daily driving. The previous

owner ran them at 45PSI, and given that i came from a Zook which is

around 20 seemed very high. Is this right? It is rated to 50 as a max it

says on the tyre. Also, i believe I can run them down to 20 or so before I

have issues, is this correct too.

thanks for the help.

I would say around 30-34psi depending on the ride you get
Before All toys there was the Landcruiser

I guessed it would be lower than it presently is, as every bump more or

less tries to launch me out of the seat!

After all the 4 Runner is a 4WD, expect a roiugher ride than you get in the Family sedan. Running the pressure at 20psi you would be asking for problemie cr#p handling, increased running pressures and hence more rapid tyre wear. As stated previously somewhere around 30 to 34psi would be the ball park. Increase say another 5 psi if you doing a bit of towing or have the vehicle load with 3 kids, 2 dogs, the missus and 45 slabs of beer.

Sorry, my mistake, i meant 20PSI offroad. I have done a heap of 4WDing, it is just it has been in Suzuki's, not the larger vehicles, so I am beginning my learning curve again.

Ditto........offroad, 18 to 22 is quite OK dependent on terrain/load.
