I have an 88 dual cab lux with a 2.4 diesel. Lately I have been noticing that when I let the clutch out fast I get this little screech sound. I am concerned that it maybe the clutch on it's way out. I am off to cruiser park with my 2yr old son in a months time and don't want it fail on me. Anyone know what this might be, or if I should even worry about it?

Thanks in advance, Turbz.

wheel spin  best bet is to get someone (mechanic) but it could be sign of it starting to go never realy herd them screech before but there is always something new. if you want to try diagnose it by your self take it for a drive go up a hill medium grade at say 60kmh in 4th so engine is under load see if the rev's go up and speed doesn't increase then it's slipping if not try pressing cluth in and the letting out at a fairly fast rate (not dropping it) and see if it holds the rev and doesn't gain in speed then you back off a bit and give it some more power and it doesn't rev up as much it's starting to slip depending on how much and how easly it rev's hope this makes sence to you let us know how you go.

Yer I haven't really pushed it like that. I have driven on a flat and dropped it with a little extra revs and it grabbed fine. I am pedantic ( spelling? ) with my car so I don't wanna go away with an injured car. I will try the hill option next time I am on one. Thanks.

Try this test

Sit with the clutch out and car in neutral, if the noise goes away when you press the clutch in you have a worn thrust bearing
