not liking adjustable shocks

Have a set of Rancho 5000's with the five stage adjustment, but the dials on most of them will only go to a couple of the settings. One of them is even locked on the one setting. :bad-words: I haven't had a chance to look at them yet but has anyone else had this problem before? Is it a simple problem or are they well and truly stuffed?

Are you sure there not rancho 9000 adjustables? You can get replacement knobs for them for about $5 each but it really depends if it's the knob thats seized or something in the shock.

The old style of rancho 9000 was a 5 stage adjustable set up before they went 9 stage set up so i'd say they would be close to being stuffed even if it was just the knobs seized.

Cheers Mick.

my tough dog 9 stages wont let you increase or decrease ride by more then a couple at a time....if i turn it up it gets stiff....if i turn them down the knob goes lose until i drive it for a little bit, then adjust some more. but work fine otherwise.

i had them, i reckoned they performed on the ok side of things but as far as the adjustment goes, air or manual adjustment. :bad-words: keep em, overated.. more hassle then what they are worth.

Yeah, you're right. They are the Rancho 9000's. I forgot the 5000's were non adjustable and the 9 stage ones were called 9000X.

The shocks are about 50,000kms old now and faded in the first few months they were on the car but the adjustment was always ok. Will have to take one off and see if it's just the knob jammed up or not. I'd like to replace them as I think they are sh1t but funds will not allow at this point in time so I'll have to try and keep them going a bit longer.
