i might be scoring a 2.8 turbo and all the manifolds off a gq diesel,
ive got a 4.2 diesel with 415,000 on the clock(hence the small turbo option) and i dont really feel safe putting a big turbo on it.
so my question is, what will fit and what will i have to customize, mainly more worried about the exhaust manifold as i can fab up all the rest of the piping
im not in the game to run giant boost just need to help the old girl on some hills

Pretty much nothing will bolt up. EGT wold properly be real high. cos the turbo will restrict everything to much.
The RD28t is very different to a TD42.

just buy a kit to suit from any of the different manufactureres, you can alsways choose the lower boost set up, i run 12psi on mine, and i know its lower k's but its got 340.000, you could always have yours tuned for economy and get it set for 8psi, which is quite moderate,

Theres no problems using a petrol turbo. Most are designed for the petrol market first then people wack them on diesels.
Was looking at the Garret book today. And the turbo on a mates ute that is almost finished is around the 150rwkw figure and Sparkys made 174rwkw and both those BB turbos are listed as for engines with 2lt to 3.0lt capacity.
If your interested in a 2nd hand system I know of 2 turbo systems that are up for sale. Ones a Full Safri intercooled system, that was removed for a bigger turbo and intercooler setup. The 2nd is a MTQ I think turbo system that is being removed for the same reason. Niether where running much boost. Both owners knew the limitations and have gone the upgrade before bothering.

There AdrainGQ for the MTQ (or what ever it is) and Juzza for the Safria. There both complete kits as far as I know.
