I just bought a Icom IC-41S Hand held 5watt UHF.Sposed to have 120 channels (40 normal and the rest are programmable) tested it out on the way home from the 4x4 show and had heaps good range.Old man was out at his depot in Presonts and on 5watts I could still talk wioth him about 10-12ks away on the M7. Price was $400,but I talked the sales guy down from $500

Philips PRM8030. Bought mine on ebay for $250. Remote head, transmits on 25 watts, fully programable with a laptop, 100 channels, will tx and rx between 450 -520 MHz. 5 scan banks etc etc

The PRM8040 is an updated version but the remote head is a bit larger due to the alphanumic display - see this one:

They come in a lot of different band widths, as long as 477 MHz is somewhere in the range it will be fine for UHF cb operation.

These radios make most of the UHFs out there look like toys in terms of their construction quality and features.

ICOM, can be boosted to 20watter very easy, more features than you need what more do you want.
