ok i'm after some pic's of a hilux or 4 runner with a holden efi 5ltr fitted

i'm running a v6 auto now but its about dead and its the second motor in about 6 months so i thinking of fitting a holden v8 i've been told that the v6 Adaptor & shaft will fit in a v8 t700 gearbox

has anyone have any cooling problems if so what have you done to fix the problem?

thanks matt

Haven't got mine in yet but heres a link to my main thread, hope it answers some questions.

My observations so far,

Will probably need to ditch the aircon radiator to fit a thermo in front of the radiator.

The gearbox will move rearwards by about 2 to 3" so transmission mound and console mods will be required.

A bonnet scoop of some description will help by allowing more fresh air to circulate around the motor for cooling.

The stock exhaust manifold will definitely not fit on the drivers side, it fouls the steering column.

marks do not make adaptors for autos, but maybe someone else does.

Should go like stink when complete

Cheers

Done this conversion in my single cab, using 308, very tight fit, and you will have problem after problem with keeping it cool, other than that its definately worth it. rtying to run a clutched fan is damn near impossible, so i have fixed plastic fan, with 5 litre vs ss radiator, and custom shroud with 16" thermo on the front, works good but will still hit 100 degrees on hard 4wdriving .i have one V belt that runs , water pump, alt, and power steering, and just miss's the fan.. room is really the only serios issue, but a few trail fits and you will see what i mean. alloy radiator made to fit would be the way to go, mine works now but was a serious headache to get right.
I didnt have any probs with exhaust, but mine was spring at that stage, the auto is the way to go, i have t350 and love it, t700 would be even better. Broke tooo many manuels and finally got an auto, and never had a problem since. i have heaps of photo's of the conversion, will get some and show room etc..
ggod luck its worth it, will dominate on and off road, but remember, diffs will go next.!

I've got a efi 5 litre in an 84 hilux with dyna box. It has a 3 inch body lift. I widened the original space and fitted the 5 litre Commodore radiator forward under the bonnet latch. With an earlier model water pump (1 inch shorter) the clutch fan fits easily as does the slightly modified shroud. The extractors fit fine on the drivers side, but very tight on the passenger side, needs a little modifying to give clearance of the chassis. It's going to a new home tonight, but if I get the chance will take some pictures. I also have modified an AU twin fan to fit (easy), but didn't try it as I prefer the cluch fan

Hey Matt,

I thought you sold that lux? This is the blue coiled rear extra cab?

Does anyone know if this is true as I'm looking to do the same.

Hey mate .we are using the VN V8 radiator that came out of the donor car with two ten inch Davis Craig thermos to keep it at a good temperature on road.
And a separate tray mounted trans cooler with its own 15inch fan so that the radiator doesn’t have to cool both the engine and trans it help heaps with getting the temp down

For off road use cooling is defiantly an issue .As said before there is absolutely no room for a clutch fan so a rear mount radiator would have to be the go.
Down the track that is the set up that we will end up with but the current set will do until the custom tray is built..

Some pic`s of the radiator and the clearance between the engine and radiator
