What a topic this will be!!!!
Im looking at purchasing a Disco td5 and want auto.
Im selling my GU ute, and want something a bit nicer around town.
I need more info as to which model to purchase,
Do I buy 2000, 2001 or the 2002, perhaps 2003.
iS there a difference in these rigs, and what should I pay or one.
What do I need to look out for, and will this rig be reliable.
Im getting lots of different answers about reliability on the disco.
What size tyres fit under these things and what size lift can you do without too many hassles. wILL 4" lift fit ?
all info willbe greatly appreciated

Yo will want '03 or later as it comes with the CDL and all the little niggles were mainly worked out by then.

33's or 35's are possible with a little work and the right airbags.

The auto's are great

Have an 03 Disco, and could not be happier. Things to watch out for...Find one that has not been serviced by Austral Landrover in Brissy, they would not what a 4wd is, even if it ran over them (the Service Managers at least). Had many discussions with them and many servicing related issues from Austral inclding trying to stop a gearbox seal leak by apply gasket goo from the outside, not checking batteries, replacing windscreen when asked to organise a small chip repair in passenger side, telling me my ARB lockers (which they had fitted pre delivery) where causing damage to the drive train when driving on the road, told they had never seen a CV on any landrover that need replacing, and on on and on.

I believe with decent servicing these are great vehicles (big statement coming from a Landcruiser Man) and after 130K kms still happy.

P.S. See MR automotive on the sunshine coast and get the Computer remapped, heaps more power and even better to drive.

I agree. I know one of the service managers there, couldn't find his arse with both hands and a road map to be quite honest.

MR are good, as well as Ricks 4WD at Nerang. I live in brisbane andf go out of my way if I need anything done (rare as I do all my own mechanical work) plus very helpful.

Jamie you are nuts.
Get a Toyota or Nissan again.
Unless you like breakdowns, rides in towtrucks, lots of time spent at dealerships, lots of bills etc. :D
