I can get a cheap 2nd set, so please, no comments about brands or alternatives, all I want to know is:

Is there any point in going DOWN a size, but to a more aggressive tread, or would it defeat the purpose.

Any 'real life' opinions?

I think you would be dissapointed in the moingrels if they are going on a GQ???

Yep, on a GQ. Only a 2" lift too, so clearance in important to me. I always bottomed out on 31"s. I've been very happy with 33"s....so I am a bit reluctant to go to 32"s.....thus the question. ;)

I havnt run them myself, only ran the muds when I started selling them, from feedback I have received I would suggest they are less that great on a heavy rig, and I would personally stick with teh bfgs

I'd say stick to the BFG's. With these size tyres on a GQ (or any big rig), i think axle/diff clearance is more important than tread pattern when it comes to ruts/bogs etc.

I had worn 32 BFG muds when I first bought the GQ. Now running new 33". No way knowing I would go back for off-road use.

Take into account the 32" mongrels are in fact small in real diameter. ie. they dont measure up to a true 32...look at the stated diameter on the website unless they've changed in the last 18months since I bought mine. Only kept them for a couple of months, worst tyre I've ever used imo but that was under a zook.

Or extreme trekkers but thats not what he asked ;)

Personally i'd go the more agro tread, but obviously, being worn, and not a true 32", and driving a LWB is going to suck, so keep the 33BFG's
