I'm just about to order my new 350 chev for the mav, but can't decide on using a good offroad 'proof' carby or going to straight lpg.

how well do the holly 4wd carbies work? the holley on the 305 i have now is hopeless even after a 4wd kit has been installed in it.

cheers steve

I put a holly with an elderbrock manifold on my 350 in a Chev 3/4 T 4X4. I never had any problems with it except it did go very far without needing more petro. It was the thirstiest beast I ever owned and as such only kept it for a year. But if you got the $$$ to keep her tummy full, then you won't be disappointed. Just don't wander to far from a service station. :D

Best results I have had with Chev off road is a Quadrajet modified to suit.

Small primaries good for delicate throttle response.

The TBi set up off GMC Ambulances also seem to work well for a cheap EFI conversion.

Almost had an Edelbrock EFI System from the states for my 305 Rangie but that didn't happen.

One of my mates has fitted a retro fit Ram Jet EFI system and it works well after the bugs have been worked out.

if you have space for 2 has tanks go straight gas.
If not, modified holley with a fuelbowl drain, or a quadrajet. I had a edlebrock carby that was very good also.

holley projection style fuel injection would also work quite well.

looking at a Gas research system ( straight gas ) but is a little on the pricey side. single tank(90L) set up $3500 dual tank (160L) $5000 before johnny howards discount.
