Ok, so I have a pyrometer for my 2L-T that I want to fit at the same time as my new turbo and 2.5 inch exhaust (Pyro is second hand VDO, but @ $50 I could not say no) but it is missing the the thermocouple.
An idea where to get one and what sorta $$ I am looking at.

I recall Jaycar has some thermocouples but you have to check the temp.
Also look at this page:

They suggest a place in Adelaide : Industrial Pyrometers in Adelaide, Australia, supplied the thermocouple that we used, which came with two metres of braided cable. It cost A$50.
But lastly, will the sensor be calibrated to suit the gauge? as the gauge amplifies the signal to suit the gauge. Get it checked with a infra red pyro gun. My VDO with its sensor (complete kit) reads 30 degerees celcius too high! But thats safer than a lower reading.

Which type of thermocouple? K-type?
Jaycar sell some. Or a scientific/process engineering equipment supplier if you want a good one.

I uses heaps of them, my work revolves around them, sounds like you need a "K" with a 1/4 or 1/8th BSPT olive in full stainless braid
Can get!
