This one is for the diesel injector pump gurus (1hz injector pump)

Have found this on books and its a diagram of how to adjust the timer/timing on the pump... what does this screw actually do?

I have been checking out mine and found that it was at 0.245", so while trying to adjust it i noticed that it wont go out any further than 0.29".
Does it really make any difference by adjusting it? havent had a chance to test drive the car yet, but it does sound smoother...

Your screw is actually adjusting the spring rate of the advance piston, or how quickly you achieve your full advance. This is set on the test bench when calibrating your pump.

I would advise not to play with it unless you know what you are doing and prepared to pull the pump off it you muck it up.

Static pump timing is adjusted via rotating the pump body in either direction to achieve the correct pluger lift at tdc. Once set, there are no real benefits of more advance, just a very noisey engine.

Try it if you wish, but you take the risk. The measurement is a guide when setting the pump initially on the bench.
