Warn Thomas Air Locker

Can anyone please give me some info on the Warn Thomas Air Locker i have just bought a new 85 hilux and it came with a Warn Thomas Air Locker looking 4 some details about it

Dose it stay locked in full time ect
And any details about how they work would be Appricated

The only selectable lockers for hilux's pre ARB Airlocker were the Roberts diff lock and, I think, Jack MacNamara made some back in the mid eighties.

Cheers mate i keep looking for info. Warn Thomas was just the name that on the side of the air compresser so i thought it might of had something to do with it...

Can't comment on warn (not a warn sticker is it? they are everywhere!), but thomas is a brand of air compressor too. Back in the 80's and 90's they pretty much had the whole market for compressors.

No its the compesser it all over it... But the lock so wird it not like ARB lock where you turn the compesser on the then lock the locka in u turn this one on fills a 10lt tank then locks in and unlocking the locka i just go to a 4wd shop she what they say

I'm guessing that someone jsut wanted to avoid the air solenoids and connected the locker hose directly to the tank for simplicity, however, how do you turn the locker off?Is there a valve to dump the air out of the tank?

If this si the case, I think I would go to ARB and buy and air locker loom. This will give you the correct solenoids etc.

PS if it is an old Macnamara lock, these were (if I recall) vacuum engaged. (does anyone know different?)

not sure on vac operation but the TJM prolocker is a Macnamara n air operated, the roberts locker is what ARB used to be called

The TJM pro locker is not a macnamara product, although he did some design work on it for TJM.

I have a Roberts Locker on the front of my 40 which is operated by vacuum, you should be able to tell because its got a solinoid on the outside of the diff. Mine also features a electric solinoid switch so I can use a normal arb switch fitted up by Matt Mcinnes.

Well the locka in my car has one switch only you turn it on the air tank fills up then the locka locks in. So i dont no if it turns off when i turn the switch off or it just stays locked in ita every confusing system so all idears are still a big help...

Is there a pressure switch? i.e. Does the pump eventually stop?

I'd get an ARB solenoid and plumb it into the air line between tank and locker, then wire it up with a separate switch. Then you'll have one switch to fill the tank and another to engage/disengage the locker - sounds like it's runny a pretty dodgy setup at the moment.

Or just goto ARB and buy a ready made loom - which could end up more trouble than wiring in a solenoid yourself.

I think it pretty dodgy aswell i am going to take the car to ARB when it's on the road and see what they think see if they can help me out on getting it working propelly....

Exactly what i said. What Gwagensteve is saying is not entirly correct.

TJM Bought the MacNamara design from MacNamara and originaly had MacNamara manufacturing them as well however TJM themselves are now Manufacturing them in QLD as MacNamara could not keep up with the demand.

Or get a pneumatic switch so you don't have a solenoid to screw up.
