help needed, please post anything relevent:

removing body lift, 2", from lux ready to sell it. doing this so doesn't look completely spastic when put smaller tyres back on. have removed all rear ones, just need new bolts, what size??? and tray is done.

undone nuts and removed washers and rubbbers from 6 cab body mounts. how do i convince the body to come free of chassis??? lift cab up but whole thing lifts :bad-words: are these bolts welded or similar to body, or should they come out? must come out? what size do i replace them with???

btw, it is single cab

thanks in advance
Lance

Grub, thats fine for rears can cut boolts shorter with angle grinder. but fronts, looks like in sleeve? i hope, then just chuck sleeve and shorten bolts, but wot the fark if not sleeve but bolt step down in size to threaded section? is this possible??? mite just be sleeve. :?

problem now is farken heavy to lift, anyone know where can jack onto, i've just been lifting body be hand. still need to know if front bolts welded to body at top, they don't seem to be able to move. :bad-words: mite have to put bodylift back in :bad-words: :bad-words: :bad-words:

bolts should not be welded at all

take out bolts from one side first.......use a hammer if you have to

jack up the body with a piece of wood on top of your jack that will be long enuff to lift them apart so u can take blocks and crush sleeves out.

DO NOT THROW AWAY CRUSH SLEEVES!

take blocks out, lower body back down, place new bolt which is 2" shorter than the old one thru the body and chassis mount and replace the crush sleeve back over the end of the bolt

place nut on bolt and tighten only enuff so it holds the body in place

repeat process on other side

find sumthing underneath on your chassis to measure to the outside of the body to line it up right

tighten all your nuts :finger:

You need to remove the bolts first!!!

Once this is done get two high lift jacks one each side (with wood or something to protect the sills) and jack each side up 1 click at a time!!

The reason why the chassis is lifting is because you are taking weight off the SPRINGS!!!!!!! meaning the SPRINGS are unloading as you are lifting!! You will notice even with the high lift jacks that they will lift the chassis a fair way before the cab starts to separate!!!!

Hope that makes sense!!!

thanks POS, it did make sense. finally got all bolts out, will need to buy new ones though as none were threaded whole length, if cut 50mm off, no thread left!!!

Bluey's tips for removing body lifts:
1. always keep old (small) cutting disks from angle grinder, you never know when you need to get into confined space to cut head off bolt. :D

2. always use nylon for lift blocks, when removing and all else fails, cut cut in half with hack saw :D :D :D :D
