Can anyone tell me the difference between, low mount, high mount etc. and what sort of bullbar u need for em? can u just run em on a ordinary steel bar?

you probably should have a look at the warn site for the specs.

low mount: electric motor sits alongside winch drum, also brake is internal in that is inside winch drum. can cause high temps so not recommended to use plasma cable on low mount. low mounts are bolted to the bullbar on the bottom of winch. ie flat plate or similar horizontal to bolt to, means when winching would be trying to pull mount bolts out. take up less room, height and depth less than high mount, maybe longer? cost less.
high mount: electric motor sits above winch drum, and brake is external so no heat probs. high mount's tend to be faster power in/out, not sure about new warn winches though, ie 9500i and new motors on low mounts. high mounts bolt on front, so you actually bolt winch to vertical face of bullbar, no probs therefore pulling mount bolts out. need more room to mount, heaps higher and deeper, possibly need to offset bullbar. cost more
thinks thats it.

I have seen very few low mount bars where the winch bolts down. Most winch bars including ARB and TJM all bolt to the front of the bar just like a high mount.
After saying that we have the winch mounted bolts down on both the MogRover and also on my rig. The mog has not had to realy use the winch for recovery but i dont see it having any problems mounted this way. My winch isnt even wired up yet so i have not tried it out.

all the new arb bars (dunno bout tjm) have there own seperate winch braket
u can remove the whole b/bar and the braket for the winch is still there
