Outer Limits 4x4 Board

im looking at getting a set of either of these for the bullbar, ive heard nothing but good things about the lightforce but not much on the hella's i know they are very popular in the USA anyone want to shed some light (pun not intended) on what one to go for. if the same the LF gets the go because if nothing else they are aussie made

Gday Tim the hella's are a great light (not saying that LF isnt) Dad has a set on his truck. They are piss easy to convert to HID too...

The 4000's are good, BUT hey ARE NOT water proof and will fill up with water when crossing larger rivers, apart from that there tops

I have LF XGT's but the 4000's were on my list

I looked at a test in one of the 4wd mags a while back. In my opinion the Hella lights had a much better light pattern than the LF. The mag said the LF were better because they were brighter at a set distance. I have not used either. I have owned Hella 2000,s in the past and they were a great light but I prefered my Cibies.

Hey bud, i've got 4x 4000's on my bullbar and their awesome. They will let in water during water crossings, bogholes, etc. but are easy enough to seal with some silicon.

Lightforce's have a dull spot in the middle because of their adjustment (similar to a mag light) which can be irritating. My mate who races rally cars says that's why he nor other rally driver's will use the lightforce's. Another mate has 'em on his 75 and their fantastic aside from this fault.

Lightforce are virtually indestructable and plastic lenses are a bonus. In saying this i've put my 4000's through their paces and they're a damn tuff light.

Ultimately, i'd say it'd come down to price as both are excellent lights.

Oh, and BTW the Hella's are Aussie made too, in Moorabbin, Victoria. Just not Aussie owned, German i think.

If your after a spot... i would go for lightforce, my mate has 170's on his troopy and they poo all over my ralleye 2000's in terms of amount and the brightness of light, however if you after a spread beam then your ralleye 4000's are the go.

Both are easily converted to HID as stated...

1 thing to also remember... hellas - full metal body which when placed on a bullbar, no matter how well designed the mounting system, will shake and flex more than the plastic bodied lightforce.... also in terms of impact resistance the lightforce is also stronger as no glass lense or metal body.

get the LF the hella units are too heavy a vibrate like crazy, weve fitted both at work and side by side against a wall the hellas where shacking all over the place, where the lf didnt even move. it well worth getting the blue lenses for the lf it makes them a much clearer whiter light

seriously tho, I've got 4 hella rallye 4000's fitted to my bullbar nice and tight and they don't shake whatsoever.

seriously tho, I've got 4 hella rallye 4000's fitted to my bullbar nice and tight and they don't shake whatsoever.

Do you have a pic of all four just to see how u mounted 4 of them as i was thinking of getting 4 spotties of some sort..

I have hella 4000's with hid and I think they produce a better pattern than the set of LF240's I have in both halogen and HID. LF240's have to have the combo cover. Otherwise there only good for putting white dots on things 10k away. Which is useless. Great for a pissing contest with mates

Combo covers are a Lightforce 240 thing. They produce an alright spread and spot beam from one light. As a full spread cover isnt available for the 240's, XGT or LF HID's.
As for the pissing contest. Thats all the straight beams are good for. As there isnt really any need to be able to read road signs from 4k away. When theres a dozen roo's standing on the edge of the road.
