Extended shackles

What shims, if any, need to be put under the diffs between the springs to correct drive angles with inch extended shackles.
Does it need the shims or does it make little difference.
Its on a 83 hard top sierra.
Another question. with my two inch body lift and the inch extended shackles will 33's fit comfortably..?
The only reason i ask is i scored a set for dirt cheap and it would look a bit better than 30's or 31's

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. If the shackles are only 1" extended, then they wil only generate 1/2" in lift, so it won't be an issue. I have many friends who have 2" longer shackles, who have no issues, so you will be fine.

Would u really need them at all?

If the front shackle is in the front of the spring, and the rear is behind the spring, it would not affect it that much anyway would it?

On eBay USA, they sell 4in lift shackles with no other parts. Would there really BE ill effects?

Don't have to worry about the shims but you won't fit 33s with just that, maybe some 31s but even then you will have rubbing. To get 33s you will need at least a 2.5" lift + 2" bodylift plus guard trimming or as I'm sure the others will tell you SPOA

Grimbo's right - and when i eventually upgrade to 33's i'll be putting in a SPOA too ;)

I have since made my self a set of 2 inch extended shackles and in the process of making the body lift blocks .
These will be 2 inch tall ,round alloy bar, drilled .
I am not against cutting my guards to fit the 33's but what do i do with the inner guard.
Cut it as well and fill the holes with urethane   at least it wont leak.

My inner guards are completely removed at the front... you will need to do something with your battery (mine is behind passenger seat), wiper bottle (also behind pass seat) and air filter (swapped for a pod)...

Surprisingly the engine bay stays pretty clean - though i must admit that i haven't been hammering through bog holes - though i reckon that would get everything under the bonnet filthy regardless of inner guards or not..

spoa and stock main rear leaf in front old king springs pack under that (springs are almost flat) and extended shackes in front will fit 34" simex with only cutting off those chassis things that hold the bull bar and hamering lips on firewall and folding guard ends in.

The minimum lift from a spring over conversion would be the thickness of the axel tube (because you take the springs from under the axel, and put it on top)... You could also gain more lift than that by placing 'spacers' between the axel tube and the springs - but this is typically considered a bit of a no-no with 4wd'ers i believe, or you could also run some springs with greater arch too.

I believe the minimum lift is about 5 inches.

Your lift will be a little more than your axel tube it will be from the mounting surface of you origional spring perch to the same on your new perch but yeah around 5" or so.

I had 33s on my old drover with a 3in body lift and 3-4in springs.
It did rub a bit, but if you bang all the lips flat under the guards you won't chop the tyre up that much.
It rode pretty hard, but i had heaps of weight in the custom bullbar and custom rear bar and that sort of smoothed the ride out.
